サム・クックの系譜となる横綱級ソウル／ブルース・シンガー、ＬＪＴ。７０年代初頭のJewel/Ronnからのアルバムを２in１。熟年黒人ファン層向けの、生活感溢れるソウルフルな作品群だ。それにしても好きですねー、不倫ソング。
ゴスペル、サム・クック、ボビー・ブランドの歌唱法を自分のスタイルに昇華し、ブルース＆ソウルの絶品を残したこの時代。ＬＪＴといえば代名曲は６３年の「Part Time Love」だが、スケールアップしたこのJewel時代が更に凄い！
ギター・テクニックばかりが発展し続ける昨今のブルース・シーン。それも良いことなのだけど、歌の素晴らしさを伝える真のブルース・シンガーに注目が集まらないのは寂し過ぎる。リトル・ジョニーを聴くべし！
